I made a video game where you help Dalí escape a UFO

Friends —

I made a video game. Yes you read that right... You have 60 seconds to help the mystery man escape a UFO in a yellow fishing boat, off the coast of Cadaqués. Protect the mustache.

It plays on a phone or a laptop, it takes a minute, and the song plays while you're out there. Tell me how many seconds you lasted — just hit reply. I want to know if I made it too hard.

A few notes for the curious. The clocks floating in the water slow down time when you grab them, which felt like the only correct way to build a surreal game. The beam from the ship is what gets you. And the boat is the one you see tied up in every photo of that harbor. Do you believe in UFOs?

"Cadaqués Cowboy" itself lands on 18 September — ten days from now. If you haven't pre-saved it, that link is here, and it turns up in your library the morning it comes out:

And if you know someone who would enjoy steering a surrealist away from an alien tractor beam, send them the game. That's the plan. and yes this was made with AI.

Cadaques Cowboy

Friends — The new record is called Homage to Catalonia. It's my sixth, and it comes out in January. The next song from it arrives on 18 September. It's called "Cadaqués Cowboy," and it imagines Salvador Dalí as a spaghetti-western drifter — kind of an alien, but always playing with reality. Cadaqués is the white village up the Costa Brava where Dalí kept a house. You drive over a mountain to get there, and then the road simply stops, because there's nowhere further to go. I've been in...

Hey, Back in the spring I played a house concert up in Alella, in the hills outside Barcelona — vineyards on one side, the sea somewhere off the other. Twenty-odd people. Chairs carried out from the kitchen. No PA, no soundcheck. Three or four songs in I stopped worrying about whether the guitar was loud enough, because the room had gone that particular kind of quiet you only get when people are actually listening. You can hear it happen. It's the reason I keep doing these. People ask fairly...
